Kupwara, Aug 04 (KNO): Bhartiya Janata Party leader, Javid Qureshi from, who hails from Langate area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district is of the belief that his fasting helps top and middle-rung BJP leaders recover from the deadly Covid-19 as happened in the case of J&K BJP chief Ravinder Raina. Quershi believes that all his prayers are heard. After fasting for the speedy recovery of Raina, who was first positive for Covid and then turned negative for the virus, Qureshi is now fasting for Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who has tested positive for the Covid. Talking to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Qureshi said that he is a committed soldier of BJP and his sole aim is to live and die as an Indian born in Kashmir. “My prayers during the fasts for the wellbeing of our leaders are heard by Almighty and nothing can demoralize me not even the online critics. I kept fast for recovery of Home Minister Amit Shaji, see he will recover very soon,” he said. “I joined the BJP barely a few months ago only to serve people without greed of power or contesting elections since the political parties I represented earlier failed to deliver. I have contested two elections which includes Lok Sabha polls.” He said that that his family has suffered huge loss due to the “violence. “I lost three brothers. One of my brothers who had crossed over to LoC 1992 was killed in an encounter with security forces while two others got killed after which my family was constantly targeted. I received injuries in my chest and our house was also damaged,” Qureshi told KNO. He said that after the repeated attacks and harassment he joined Ikhwan for at least 18 months. “I didn’t kill or torture anyone during the period in year 1998-1999 and left it immediately to join the mainstream and was part of Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) for 12 years,” he said. Qureshi later joined Janata Dal United (JDU) but parted from them due to failure of serving the people and finally joined BJP with an aim to serve people. “Regional mainstream leaders are to be blamed for the amount of mess and chaos in Kashmir. They are responsible for the abrogation of article 370 and 35A,” he said. “Mainstream leaders have fooled the general public of Jammu and Kashmir and had they worked for the betterment they would have first ensured the special status is permanent and it may not have got scrapped.” Talking about the recent criticism he evoked after deciding to go on a fast for the recovery of BJP leaders, Qureshi said that anyone can criticize and it doesn't bother him and even many of them hurl abusive comments on him and his family members on social media. “But I believe if this society was sound not a single individual would do that. Now I am used to it and it won’t push me on back foot rather my commitment and determination for the BJP won't go down in any manner as I am no less than a soldier,”—(KNO)
